Pictures and Potty Training
Since I haven’t posted any…here are some pictures of baby boy #2 in my growing belly. No definite name yet. My head is cut off in 2 out of 3 of these because, well, it just needs to be.

The big thing in our household over the last few days has been potty training Caleb. I will have to say he is doing very well. 1 accident a day for the past 3 days. I say that is not too bad. I do have a question for those more experienced in this area, how did you potty train your child? I did not find much information on the subject. Although he is doing well with the current bare bottom method, he can’t do this forever. Ideas?

Since we stayed at home most of the weekend Caleb and I did a lot of cleaning. He loves to get a towel and clean everything with it. He actually asks to clean (”neen”). This also includes sweeping, scrubbing floors, vacuuming, whatever. He is not that bad either. His favorite it so clean the walls, something I don’t really every do.

Caleb ran into the kitchen from his room really excited, so I followed him into his room to show so he could show me this spectacular building project he had been working on. Not bad for a little guy. He was pretty amazed.

He still loves his reading. He really gets into it.

He also constantly asks to watch bball (ie. football) on TV. I wonder where he gets that from.* WPG2 Plugin Not Validated *
And lastly, Caleb loves to have his picture taken. If he sees the camera, he blinks he eyes (this means, take my picture please). He was fascinated with the timer, so we took some together. Forgive my looks, things get worse at the end of the day.

Have a great rest of the week.
Addi loves to ‘keen, keen’ (Clean, Clean) too- Maybe she and Caleb can get together one of these days and clean our houses for us;]

WOW. . .love the pics. . .You look great! And as always, Caleb is an absolute charmer. . .thanks for sharing. . and when I potty trained my kids about 100 years ago, we used a book called “Potty training in a day”. .didn’t work in one day, but the principles were good and it didn’t take long. . .

Hey Heather,
We just got done potty training and I felt like it went really well. I started with reading the potty-training book by Gary Ezzo (the Baby-wise guy). We, personally, are Baby-wise fans but I know a lot of people are not. Whatever your stance I really thought he offered great advice for potty training. He offered several approaches but I chose to do the one that took a day or two (instead of stretching it out into weeks or months). Basically we cleared all interruptions and stuck close to home for a few days. I set up his potty chair in the living room so I could not be stuck in the bathroom all day. I gave him LOTS of liquids (fun stuff that he’s not usually allowed to have). He loved it and drank willingly. He’d drink and then I’d set the timer for 30-45 minutes or so and then we’d sit for 5-10 minutes on the potty. Oh, and the biggest thing I got from the book was that you should reward him for being DRY, not for trying to go potty. Since the goal is staying dry then the reward should come for being dry rather than simply for sitting on the potty. Then you give a double reward for success in the potty.
Wow, long post. Sorry! That’s what worked for us. It was just a few days before he had it down. Oh, and he loved going potty in the grass. Like a strange little incentive or something :)Press on! You can do it!
