A few updates going back from the start of the year:
1. Chad’s new year resolution?

2. A quick visit from Chad’s dad. My first weekend alone. Chad took Caleb to Robert Lee so Chad could hunt, and I stayed in Midland to work. It was weird, very quiet, kind of eerie, and not something I want to do all the time. I missed them both too much.

3 Caleb has some serious allergies on his birthday. He was pitiful. Red, watery eyes, sneezing, runny nose, yucky cough. He would try to smile, but he really didn’t even enjoy his cake (or hardly put any in his mouth to taste). Chad bought him some books from us for his birthday. He is a year, AGGHH!

4. Caleb’s 1 year doctor appointment was canceled so I have no new facts for you.
5. We went to Robert Lee again to hunt for the last weekend. No deer, but I got to go to Brittney’s baby shower and we got to see the Cozart family. We also caught up with some of our Louisville friends for a few seconds as they flew back home from San Angelo.

7. I forgot to mention, Chad was promoted. He is now a lender/loan officer, whatever you want to call it. YEA! Maybe I did mention it, oh well. He is enjoying his new position, so far. If anyone needs a humongous loan let him know (no auto or mortgage loans for him).
Caleb is 1 year old today. I can’t believe it!

I was thinking, as the new year began, about why people get so excited and make such extensive plans for the upcoming year. The wonderful New Years resolutions. I realized that people like a fresh, clean, and new start. They can put the old behind them and start all over. Forget the past and have a clean slate on which they can grow and change. Sound familiar. If they only knew what a real “clean slate” is like?
It reminded me of the newness we have when we are cleansed from our sins and the old self dies. A fresh beginning, the old falls away. It is exciting, exhilarating, and wow….unbelievable. No wonder the world likes new beginnings…we all do. Maybe it should encourage Christians to share what a new beginning really looks like….the righteousness of Christ clothing us because of his fulfillment of God’s plan: his life, death for the propitiation for our sins, and resurrection.
