The Voice of the Robert Lee Steers Part 2

Filed under: General — admin @ 10:59 am

Well, Chad is at it again. Another good thing about living in Midland is being closer to Robert Lee. Chad is able to annouce the home football games again this year. We went for another trip last weekend to do just that. It was homecoming and Robert Lee won! YEA! We also had a chance to see Joel and Robin, eat some yummy burritos (with homemade tortillas) at Joel’s parents new shop, and celebrate Audrey’s birthday. I enjoyed the weekend (minus Caleb waking up every few hours..hungry or something). You are right Shaunna, it is ongoing. Some nights/days are better than others.

Donnie’s foot is getting better, but still swollen, red and painful. Continue to pray for him.

I also saw my first patient here in Midland. God’s timing was impeccable (isn’t it always). I am so thankful for the opportunity to work 8-10 hours a week and bring Caleb with me. It is truly a blessing.

We took Caleb to the doctor last week for an 8 month checkup (that is not a normal one, but we missed the 6 month because we could not get in anywhere, so the soonest we could get in was at 8 months). He got four shots…and definitely let us know the next day. He is 13.9 pounds (<3 percentile) in weight, and 26.5 inches in height (3rd percentile). But he is healthy and proportional, so the doctor was not concerned at all.

By the way, I was in line to get gas at Wal-mart. I waited for 5 minutes while a lady was washing her car with the windshield squeegee. She was washing her whole car, scrubbing and scrubbing at the bird droppings on the hood of her car. Did she realize that lines of people were waiting while she was washing her car, and not even getting gas? Luckily another stall opened and I pulled in. She finished after I filled up. I hope her car is clean!

We have also enjoyed the wonderful weather. Picnic lunches in the park with Chad are great. Caleb is still not too keen on grass, but he liked looking at the ducks.

Have a great weekend.

No Tooth Yet

I promise that I was not lying. I really did feel a tooth coming in, so did Chad. I can’t feel anything anymore (as far as I can tell). Caleb hates when I stick my finger in his mouth, so it is hard to tell.

This picture was taken in early September before a morning run. It was chilly outside, so Caleb was prepared.

Chad is taking an accounting class at Midland College and he is enjoying it. He likes his job. I am excited about that part. Looks like we could be in Midland for longer than a few months.

We enjoyed a nice lunch with Jodee on her birthday this past Saturday. Bill and Debi came down and treated us all for lunch. Thanks for having a birthday Jodee.

We are headed to Robert Lee this weekend. Chad is announcing the football games again this year. He really enjoys it, and hopefully one day he can announce on the radio.

Caleb is now 8 months.

At 8 months Caleb is:

  • Pulling to stand on anything and everything.
  • He has been practicing the sitting back down part.

  • He has crawled up 2 stairs (behing my back).
  • Cruising on the furniture (sidestepping whiles holding on to something).
  • Quadruped crawling vs. army crawling.
  • Verbalizing all the time, really loudly. Dada, mama, and then some yelling.* WPG2 Plugin Not Validated *

  • Sleeping from about 8pm to 7am, with 2 naps during the day.
  • He loves to swim (the YMCA has an indoor pool that is warm–yeah!), take baths, chew on everything.
  • He is eating about anything he can hold onto and shove in his mouth (carrots, rice wafers, tomatoes, peaches, oranges, lemons (thanks to Jodee), pizza, crackers, cheese, bread.

  • He is very HAPPY, content and wonderful (I think he gets the wonderful part from his dad).

Here is the Dr. Pepper picture.

I have some video of Caleb that I hope to post soon. I just have to edit, then figure out how to add it. If anyone has suggestions (Shaunna, Laura) on how to add a video, please let me know. Thanks.

Thanks for checking in on us.

A long week

For the labor day weekend we decided to visit Ruidoso (forgive my previous misspelling) with Chad’s dad and step-mom. Caleb and I went up on Wednesday with Debi to get a few things done around the condo. Chad and his dad drove up early Saturday morning. It was a rainy weekend, but we enjoyed a western show with dinner, perusing around town, and many relaxing afternoons. It was a nice get away. We returned on Monday.

Upon our returned we found out Donnie (Chad’s step-dad) was admitted to the hospital due to an infection it the ankle joint. Jodee and I went to visit Tuesday, and ended up staying the night at the Cozart’s (thanks guys) unexpectedly that night. Caleb and Wyatt got to play together (as much as two babies can). Look at Laura’s blog to see the pictures.

We headed back Wednesday evening. I had one day to unpack and clean because we were going back for the weekend.

Chad is announcing at the Robert Lee football games again this year. So we went to Robert Lee Friday and then headed to San Angelo to see Donnie again. Two surgeries later, he is showing improvement. Hopefully he can head home on Monday. Continue to pray for him. He has to be on antibiotics for 4-6 weeks give through a picc line (I think that is how you spell it).

Hopefully this week will be a little bit calmer.

I still have not started working. Hopefully soon.

Have a good week.

P.S. I can feel one of Caleb’s teeth coming in.
